Third Point Sees Solid Gains in a Quarter of Mixed Results

Daniel Loeb’s Third Point Partners fund finished up 0.8 percent in March, bringing its gains for the first quarter to 3.1 percent. This is nearly double the 1.7 percent gain for the Standard & Poor’s 500 index in the first quarter.

The results stem from the estimated returns of Third Point Reinsurance’s investment account managed by Third Point.
