The Welch Foundation has extended a $1.5 million gift to the College of Sciences at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). The money has specifically been given to create the Robert Welch chair in chemistry.
The university will appoint a chemist to contribute to research efforts in chemistry and support the university. Presently, Texas has three tier I universities, each having at least three Welch chairs.
