Venezuela’s securities regulators will close four brokerage houses due to bookkeeping irregularities and failure to comply with local laws.

Venezuela’s securities regulators will close four brokerage houses due to bookkeeping irregularities and failure to comply with local laws, The Wall Street Journal reports. Strategos Sociedad de Corretaje, SFC Investment Venezuela Sociedad de Corretaje, Fidevalores Sociedad de Corretaje and La Primera Casa de Bolsa have been ordered to shut down. La Primera Casa de Bolsa is being shut down because its current liabilities exceeded its current assets, according to its May 30, 2010 balance sheet. The government is also completing the closure of another brokerage, Banexpress Casa de Bolsa.
