ESMA Names Vice Chairman

The European Securities and Markets Authority has appointed Carlos Tavares as vice chairman.

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has appointed Carlos Tavares as vice chairman, Mondovisione reports. He is also Chairman of the Portugal’s CMVM, chaired CESR from July to December 2010 and has served as vice-chairman since February 2009. Tavares will be acting as chair of ESMA until the elected chair of ESMA takes office. The board has also set up the management board of ESMA by electing its first six members, Karl Caspari, Jean Guill, Alexander Justham, Raul Malmstein, Kurt Pribil and Fernando Restoy.
