The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has issued draft proposals to limit speculative trading in commodities, The Wall Street Journal reports. It has proposed curbs in over two dozen commodities, including oil, corn, soybeans and coffee after delaying a scheduled vote on the proposal last month. For commodities, the regulator wants to limit positions across all trading venues along with positions for a given “spot month,” or the month when a contract expires. The draft plan will set a cap on spot-month positions to 25% of deliverable supply for a given commodity.
