ISE, NASDAQ Boost Maker-Taker Fee Model

The International Securities Exchange and NASDAQ OMX expand the number of options contracts being traded under their maker-taker pricing programs.

The International Securities Exchange (ISE) and NASDAQ OMX have expanded the number of options contracts being traded under their maker-taker pricing programs, The Wall Street Journal reports. Effective May 3, the ISE will add 17 new options symbols trading under the maker-taker scheme, while NASDAQ OMX will add five new symbols.

The scheme involves paying rebates to market makers that provide liquidity to an exchange, while charging customers who remove liquidity. ISE will apply the scheme to options on the S&P 500 SPDR Trust ETF, Apple, General Electric and JPMorgan Chase, among others. NASDAQ OMX will apply it to options on IBM and Sirius XM Radio.
