Football Team Owner Tackles Fraud With Web Site

Mark Cuban is throwing some of his billions to launch a Web site intended to investigate stock fraud and corporate wrongdoing, the Associated Press reports. Cuban, who owns the Dallas Mavericks football team, wants to tackle offenders and make money in the process with Sharesleuth.com. “I’m a firm believer that out of [the more than 10,000] public companies, the odds are that there are more than just a few crooks and frauds,” Cuban told AP. “Finding them can be rewarding and entertaining.” He explained that he would use information culled by his editor, Christopher Carey of the St. Louis Dispatch – who gave Cuban the idea for the Web site – as well as a stable of stringers, to trade stocks. “It will be fully disclosed and explained,” said Cuban. Sharesleuth.com, which launches next month, “is for the profit of its owners, and we will buy and sell stocks that are discussed, before they are made available on the site.”
