U.S. ETFs Saw $1.43B Inflows In Aug

Though investors poured $1.43 billion into U.S. ETFs in August, and into fixed-income funds in particular, market declines pulled down ETF assets by 3.9% to $1.064 trillion.

Though investors poured $1.43 billion into U.S. ETFs in August, and into fixed-income funds in particular, market declines pulled down ETF assets by 3.9% to $1.064 trillion, Index Universe reports. The IShares Barclays 1-3 Year Treasury Bond Fund with inflows of $727.5 million and the Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF with $724.5 million were the two top gainers among the other fixed-income ETFs. The SPDR Barclays Capital 1-3 Month T-Bill ETF gained $2.12 billion and the U.S. and international fixed-income funds totaled more than $4 billion. Following the Standard & Poor’s downgrade, the Dow Jones industrial average dropped 4.4 percent during August. However, ETF assets are still up 5.5 percent from $1.008 trillion at the end of 2009.
