San Francisco-based 49ers has appointed Gideon Yu as chief strategy officer, All Things Digital reports. In his new role, Yu will manage the information technology and special projects departments and work under president, Jed York, adds San Jose Mercury News. Most recently, Yu was working with Khosla Ventures. He joined the firm in August 2009 and headed the firm’s investments in Square and Hunch. Yu has also served as CFO of Facebook and YouTube.
