Switzerland To Discuss Franc Strength

The Swiss government will hold talks with business leaders and trade unions about the implications of the strong Swiss franc, Reuters reports. The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs will discuss with representatives from business and bank associations the “the impact, chances and risks” of the currency’s strength. Business leaders, such as Swatch Group head Nick Hayek, and Lonza CEO Stefan Borgas, have raised warnings against the impact of a strong franc. The franc has grown to record levels against the euro and the dollar as investors, worried by the euro debt crisis and the weak U.S. economy, pile money into the currency.
