Italy CenBank Official To Chair EBA

The European Banking Authority is planning to appoint Andrea Enria as its new Chairman.

The European Banking Authority (EBA) is planning to appoint Andrea Enria as its new Chairman, Reuters reports. Enria will join the European authority from the central bank of Italy, where Enria was a senior official. Enria will be working alongside the banking sector director at the U.K.’s Financial Services Authority, Thomas Huertas. London-based EBA was launched on Jan. 1, 2011, replacing the Committee of European Banking Supervisors as part of a broad overhaul of European Union supervision.
