Germany Said To Press For Naked CDS Ban

Wolfgang Schaeuble, Germany’s finance minister, is said to be planning to press the governments of European Union member states to ban trading of naked credit default swaps on their countries’ sovereign debt, reports Bloomberg.

Wolfgang Schaeuble, Germany’s finance minister, is said to be planning to press the governments of European Union member states to ban trading of naked credit default swaps on their countries’ sovereign debt. Sources said Schaeuble will raise the issue of including a proposed ban on the swaps in draft EU rules on short selling when finance minister meet in Brussels next week.
