Bank of America Merrill Lynch Ensconced Atop Global Research Ranking
Deutsche Bank has become the first firm this year to win more than one of II's analyst rankings. But Bank of America Merrill Lynch stays overall top firm.

With its 17 positions on the Emerging-Markets Equity & Fixed-Income Research Team, Bank of America Merrill Lynchs cumulative 2012 total rises to 137 more than enough to retain first place on Institutional Investors Top Global Research Firms: Year to Date ranking.
Deutsche Bank holds steady in second place, with 127 positions, and UBS repeats at third, with 102. These are the only firms that have racked up triple-digit team-position totals in the results released thus far this year.
With regard to analysts and teams deemed the best in their respective sectors, Deutsche Bank pulls ahead, with 36. Earlier this month the Frankfurt-based financial services firm tied with BofA Merrill each had 32 but the U.S. firm, now with 34, slips to second according to this metric. Citi, in sixth place overall, has the third-highest number of top-ranked analysts and teams.
Deutsche Bank also becomes the first firm to win more than one survey this year. Its victory in the emerging-markets survey was preceded by its No. 1 finish on the All-Europe Research Team in February. Other winners so far include BofA Merrill, the All-Asia Research Team; China International Capital Corp., the All-China Research Team; CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, the All-India Research Team; J.P. Morgan, the All-Europe Fixed-Income Research Team; Morgan Stanley, All-India Research Team; and Nomura Securities Co., the All-Japan Research Team.
Institutional Investor will update this table tomorrow with the release of the All-Russia Research Team results.
