African Venture Capital Appoints Chief

The African Venture Capital Association has appointed Michelle Kathryn Essome as its CEO.

The African Venture Capital Association (Avca) has appointed Michelle Kathryn Essome as its CEO, Bloomberg reports. Essome has worked at Merrill Lynch & Co., Goldman Sachs Group and JPMorgan Chase & Co. Runa Alam has been appointed co-chair of Avca’s board, while Simon Walker has become a special adviser to the board. Alam is a co-founding partner and CEO of Development Partners International. Previously, Walker was CEO of British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association and recently named director general of the Institute of Directors, adds AltAssets.
