BHP Billiton Gives $437M To Colombia Mine

BHP Billiton has contributed $437 million for the expansion of a coal mine in La Guajira in Colombia.

BHP Billiton has contributed $437 million for the expansion of a coal mine in La Guajira in Colombia. The investment from the mining company accounts for one third of the total $1.3 billion expansion, with joint venture partners Anglo American and Xstrata providing equal investment. The P40 Project will lead to an increase in the saleable thermal coal production of the mine. BHP Billiton, Anglo American and Xstrata each hold a 33.3% ownership in the coal mine.
