The Indian government is planning to establish a sovereign fund to acquire energy assets globally, NDTV reports. The government is seeking to reserve $10 billion for the wealth fund.

The vehicle will aim to buy oil and gas assets in Africa, Malaysia, Venezuela, Nigeria and Angola. The government previously announced a $10 billion infra debt fund, which is still pending approval from the finance ministry.
