Airbus Group, a pioneer in aeronautics, space and defense-related technology, is the largest aerospace and defense company in Europe. The firm, headquartered in France but registered in the Netherlands, has a large global footprint, with more than 144,000 employees across offices in 170 cities worldwide. Airbus Group was founded in 2000 as the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Co. when Aerospatiale-Matra, DaimlerChrysler, Construcciones Aeronauticas and Aerospace AG merged. The company was reorganized as Airbus Group in January 2014 after its commercial aircraft-building subsidiary, which generates the most revenue of its three divisions. The others include Airbus Defense and Space and Airbus Helicopters.
