It could be the opportunity of a life time for five lucky individuals. Lupus alpha Asset Management is looking for five managers to whom the German firm will provide €75 million (US$90.6 million) in seed capital to let them run their own investment strategies. In other words, let them run with the cash without interference for two years and see what they come up with. Ulf Becker, a partner in Lupus' alternative solutions department, says the purpose is to give German managers a chance at the same opportunities their peers in the U.S. and U.K. have. So, in addition to the money – which Becker says the firm hopes to raise from clients and other sources – Lupus will provide operational services as well, so the managers could focus on their strategies. "The idea is to give the new managers all the freedom they need to mange money successfully," Becker told the SuperHedge conference, according to Investment & Pensions Europe. Becker says he hopes to have the first stage of the plan – affectionately called a "talent hotel" – in place by September.
