U.S. federal agency Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has named Andrew Bowden as an associate director to head the National Investment Adviser/Investment Company Examination Program in its Office of Compliance Inspections and Examinations (OCIE). He will be in charge of managing nearly 450 lawyers, accountants and examiners tasked with inspections of investment advisers and investment companies.

Replacing Gene Gohlke, who stepped down from the agency earlier this year, Bowden will be reporting to Carlo di Florio, OCIE director, adds MutualFundWire. Bowden will join SEC from global investment management firm Legg Mason. He was general counsel, chief operating officer and most recently executive director for sales, client service and marketing at Legg Mason Capital Management.
