ETF Assets Swell To $1.047T

The SPDR S&P 500 ETF saw inflows of $710 million on August 29 with stocks rising partly on relief that damage related to Hurricane Irene was not any worse, Index Universe reports. Overall, investors allocated $1.37 billion to U.S.-listed ETFs.

Rising stock prices helped raise total assets to $1.047 trillion from more than $1.025 trillion on August 26. The PowerShares QQQ Trust had inflows of $437.2 million, while the SPDR S&P MidCap 400 ETF added $130.3 million in fresh assets. However, the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets Index Fund saw redemptions of $261.4 million.
