Global ETFs Top $1.4T In H1

BlackRock’s Industry Review H1 2011 said the ETF industry surpassed $1.4 trillion at the end of the first six months, Global Pensions reports. The global ETF market had 2,825 ETFs with 6,229 listings from 146 providers on 49 exchanges at the end of June, compared to 2,459 ETFs with 5,554 listings from 136 providers on 46 exchanges at the end of last year. The ETFs’ assets rose from $1.3 trillion at the end of last year to more than $1.44 trillion at the end of the first half of 2011. The global ETFs saw new fund flows of $62.8 billion in 2011 to the end of May, compared to $172.8 billion in 2010. As per BlackRock, ETPs are likely to increase by 20% to 30% annually over the next few years, expanding the global ETP market to nearly $2 trillion in assets under management by early 2012.
