Morningstar has launched a new mutual fund rating system, Reuters reports. The investment research firm will supplement its star ratings by rating the funds qualitatively under five new categories.
The star ratings are based on a fixed set of quantitative factors. The new ratings will be provided to about 150 funds initially, while over 1,500 funds are expected to be covered within 12 months.
