European Central Bank Gets New President

The European Union has named Mario Draghi as president of the European Central Bank.

The European Union has named Mario Draghi as president of the European Central Bank, Reuters reports. He will succeed outgoing French representative Jean-Claude Trichet.

Draghi will be the second Italian on the bank’s six-person executive board after Lorenzo Smaghi. Previously, Draghi has served at Goldman Sachs as an advisor.
