Jefferies has launched its equity sales, trading and research business in India, Reuters reports. The firm has appointed Kunal Bajaj as head of equity sales and Govind Chellappa as head of research.
The duo is joining the U.S. securities and investment banking firm, along with three more equity bankers from Credit Suisse. Jefferies is looking to increase its Asia equity business six-fold this year in response to client demand, said its global head of equity research Steven Black.
