Andrew Laurino
Credit Suisse
When top hedge fund managers need advice, they often turn to Andrew Laurino and the seven-person hedge fund strategy group at Credit Suisse in New York. Formed in 2008, the group advises managers on everything from long-term financing to portfolio restructuring and new fund launches.
Recently, Laurino, 35, started a consulting initiative for hedge fund clients designed to help managers think through what they need to have in place to be a truly institutional organization with staying power. Dealing with the often oversize egos of some successful hedge fund executives takes diplomacy, a skill Laurino honed studying for his MS in foreign service at Georgetown University. He was a founding member of the hedge fund coverage group at Lehman Brothers in 2006. That group — headed by Erin Callan, who would later recruit Laurino to Credit Suisse — broke new ground in hedge fund financing, including Citadel’s landmark bond offering.
