Oliver Wiener

Oliver Wiener is a trader’s trader. As head of global resources at boutique broker-dealer BTIG in New York, Wiener, 33, is a go-to guy for hedge fund equity trading desks looking for insight into what is happening in the markets — a much-prized resource in a world increasingly dominated by high-frequency trading.
Wiener’s job is all about old-fashioned relationship building, and he does it well. The U.S.-born Wiener, who moved to London at age nine because his stepfather was a partner with Goldman Sachs there, has a BA in international relations and political science from the University of Wisconsin. After graduation, Wiener joined CIBC World Markets in 2001 as a trader before moving to BTIG two years later, just as the hedge fund industry was starting to take off.
