Talks between the U.K. government and the country’s banks over limiting the size of bonus have stalled over concerns that the conditions in the Project Merlin deal were not strict enough, reports Reuters.

Talks between the U.K. government and the country’s banks over limiting the size of bonus have stalled over concerns that the conditions in the Project Merlin deal were not strict enough. George Osborne, the U.K. finance minister, said he still hopes to reach an agreement, but when it comes to bonuses, it currently appears to be business as usual for many banks. A survey by efinancialcareers.com showed that half the bankers in the U.K. and U.S. received bigger bonuses last year than they did in 2009.
