Jean-Pierre Leoni, an 11-year veteran of Paris-based AXA Investment Managers, is going to Asia to grow the firm’s institutional business in the region. Based in Hong Kong, the 48-year-old French national plans to build out AXA’s sales and marketing team throughout Asia.

The company currently has $40 billion in assets under management in the region. Leoni began his career in 1989 as a fixed-income fund manager at the Paris asset manager BTP Gestion, moved to AXA in 1998 as head of credit and then in 2005 formed AXA’s global product specialist unit. “My priority will be to sell AXA Investment Managers’ multi-expert business model to institutional investors,” he tells Institutional Investment.
