HSBC has promoted Will Ross to managing director and head of asset-backed securities originations and structured bonds for Asia-Pacific. Ross will be based in Hong Kong and steps into the shoes of Sarwar Ahmad, who left earlier this year for personal reasons and has not yet resurfaced.

Ross, who previously was head of syndicate for HSBC for the region, reports to Jon Bortoff, global head of ABS in New York, and Stephen Williams, co-head of global capital markets, Asia-Pacific. He joined HSBC from ABN Amro last year, where he was global head of asset securitization research.

Ross will run the Hong Kong-based team and will work closely with the regional offices in Singapore, India and Taiwan, Bortoff said.
