Merrill Lands Goldman Official For Senior Pac-Rim Role

Merrill Lynch has brought aboard Carl Im, managing director and co-head of corporate sales at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong.

Merrill Lynch has brought aboard Carl Im, managing director and co-head of corporate sales at Goldman Sachs in Hong Kong. He joins in a new senior role as managing director and head of the strategic solutions group for the Pacific Rim, according to officials at the firm. The strategic solutions group has undergone a massive build-up in recent months in Asia, with handfuls of hires for the cross-asset class structuring and sales unit (DW, 3/31). The hire follows a restructuring of the group at Merrill, on the back of Samir Atassi, former Asian head of the group, transferring to London. The role has been expanded to include Japan and Australia. Im, who starts mid-month, could not be reached.

Officials at Goldman said Ken Lee, managing director in Hong Kong, has assumed sole responsibility for the corporate sales group. Lee did not return messages by press time.
