Morgan Stanley reigns supreme on Institutional Investor’s inaugural All-America Trading Team, marking its first No. 1 finish in our rankings of trading-services providers. In fact, of the 11 trading teams unveiled this year, only one firm — Deutsche Bank — has earned a top spot more than once, winning in Europe and in Emerging Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Other firms credited with providing top-notch trading services in various locales include Bank of America Merrill Lynch (Latin America), BTG Pactual (Brazil), China International Capital Corp. (China), CLSA-Asia Pacific Markets (India), J.P. Morgan (U.S. fixed income), Nomura (Japan), UBS (Asia) and VTB Capital (Russia).

This year, for the first time, we asked participants in each research survey to name the firms that they feel provide the best trading services for the relevant securities in the given country or region. Our question about trading services on the All-America Research Team questionnaire drew responses from more than 860 buy-side analysts and money managers at some 590 firms that collectively manage approximately $6.71 trillion in U.S. equity assets.

J.P. Morgan captures second place on the All-America Trading Team, followed by Goldman, Sachs & Co. in third. Rounding out the top five are Barclays and Credit Suisse in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
