J.P. Morgan Tops U.S. Equity Sales Ranking

J.P. Morgan, which wins the pole position on the All-America Research Team for a third straight year, rises one rung to claim first place on Institutional Investor’s All-America Sales Team. Last year’s top-ranked firm, Morgan Stanley, drops to second place, while Deutsche Bank Securities holds steady in third. Barclays climbs past Bank of America Merrill Lynch to secure the No. 4 spot, pushing the latter firm into fifth place.

II asked participants in the broader research team survey to tell us which firms have the best sales teams serving clients that invest in U.S. equities and to rank the brokerages they use on the quality of trading services offered. (Responses to the latter question were tabulated to produce our first All-America Trading Team.)

The sales ranking reflects the opinions of nearly 2,000 buy-side analysts and money managers at more than 800 firms that collectively manage some $8.77 trillion in U.S. equity assets. Roughly 60.8 percent of the people who cast votes in the research team survey, representing 84.8 percent of the participating buy-side institutions, answered our question about the best sales forces.
