TradeTrek Securities, an algorithmic trading firm, last week hired
Robert Calice and
Philip Adesso as v.p.s in sales and trading to provide more trading support to institutional traders using its technology in the coming months. Calice joined from
BNY Brokerage, where he also focused on sales and trading. Adesso was previously a senior equity trader at
Bernard L. Madoff. The firm also plans to add several new hires to its group of four sales and trading staffers. TradeTrek has over 30 technology professionals and about a dozen trading professionals on its staff, but has historically not focused on sales and trading personnel to guide institutional traders on how to use algorithms for executing orders. "As our volumes and the number of our clients have grown, we want to have enough support people to help clients maximize their execution," said
George Rodriguez, managing director. He declined to say how many sales and trading staffers he will hire, but added that he is looking for technology developers as well. Calice, Adesso and their former employers declined to comment.
