Czech Republic: Brokerage Cyrrus Stock Trading Grows By 95% Y/Y To €3.6 Billion In 2005

Czech brokerage company Cyrrus increased the volume of securities deals by almost 95% y/y to CZK107 billion (€3.6 billion) in 2005, the company’s spokesman Jakub Lohnisky announced, explaining that the registered growth was above all due to the Czechs’ increasing interest in new forms of investment.

Czech brokerage company Cyrrus increased the volume of securities deals by almost 95% y/y to CZK107 billion (€3.6 billion) in 2005, the company’s spokesman Jakub Lohnisky announced, explaining that the registered growth was above all due to the Czechs’ increasing interest in new forms of investment. At the same time, the number of Cyrrus clients grew by 55% y/y to 677 in 2005. In 2005 Cyrrus conducted a record-high volume of shares deals as it traded shares worth CZK105 billion on domestic capital market, representing a 90.9% y/y growth. Meanwhile, the investors’ interest in trading in investment certificates in Germany increased as well as the volume of deals on the German stock market nearly trebled y/y to some €17 million after the company acquired a trading license in mid-2005. Cyrrus expects the 2006 increase to be driven mainly by the interest in certificates trading. Cyrrus employs some 50 people.
