The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) has appointed Tony Thompson as executive director. In the new role, Thompson will take charge of the agency’s management and administrative operations and monitor the best utilization of fiscal and human resources.

He will succeed Madge Gazzola, who recently retired. Thompson currently serves as deputy administrator for the Office of Management at the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service.
