Taiwan Stock Exchange Corp. (TWSE) is planning to upgrade its trading platform, Financial Times reports. The upgrades will allow algorithmic and high-frequency trading on TWSE. The exchange began computerized trading in the mid-1980s.

The upgrade, due to be in place by the end of 2013, will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the exchange. TWSE is also looking to strengthen links with regional bourses such as the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges for sharing more market data.
