Corpbanca’s shareholders have approved a capital increase of about $900 million, Reuters reports. The Chilean lender will sell over 40 billion shares, which represents about 15% of its equity and capitalize some profits. The capital increase is expected to be completed in the first half of 2011. Santiago-based Corpbanca previously held informal talks with Brazilian state-controlled bank, Banco do Brasil, to sell a 10% stake.
