Small Asian ETF firms that fail to achieve sufficient scale will soon undergo a shake-out, Asian Investor reports. A period of consolidation is expected by large ETF issuers, wherein some of the ETFs will exit or consolidate, said Frank Henze, Asia-Pacific head of ETFs at State Street Global Advisors.
Nick Good, Asia-Pacific head of BlackRock’s iShares, said an ETF provider is required to have scale and resources to run the business. In all, 67 ETF providers in Asia-Pacific ex-Japan alone manage $61.2 billion in assets, with the top five managing 53% of the total as on June 30.
