Blackstone Group is partnering with Alta Resources to acquire oil and natural-gas assets in North America, The Wall Street Journal reports. The firms will invest around $1 billion in a new venture, Alta Energy Partners. The new entity will be headed by Joseph Greenberg, president of Texas-based Alta Resources. Separately, Contango Oil & Gas will invest $20 million in the joint venture.
