Canada’s HudBay Minerals is seeking to contribute at least $1 billion to expand its copper project in Peru, Reuters reports. The Constancia project has gold, silver and molybdenum resources.

HudBay’s board of directors is set to approve the project in the first three months of next year. The Canadian mining corporation is also eyeing new investment opportunities in exploration-stage projects in Peru, Colombia and Chile.
