The Forestry Research Associates (FRA) has backed a new Brazilian timber investment fund. The VBI Timberland Fund is seeking to raise $350 million via the scheme, which it will then invest in sustainable forestry projects in the country.
The fund, which will allocate majority of the money towards plantations of eucalyptus, is being structured over 15 years. The forestry projects will be handled by Brazil Timber and Vision Brazil Investment will be investment manager of the fund.
