SREI Infrastructure Finance is seeking to raise $1 billion through an infrastructure equity fund, Reuters reports. The new fund will invest in sectors, including roads, power and ports. The Indian infrastructure financing firm intends to raise the first tranche of $500 million by March.

The funds will be raised from pension and endowment funds looking to invest in Indian infrastructure, adds Economic Times. The firm has already secured $200 million in domestic infrastructure projects through two equity funds raised from domestic investors.
