The finance industry is sorely lacking minority and female managers, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has concluded. The EEOC found that while the banking/credit sector boasts 48.6% female officials and managers, the percentage drops to 33.8% in the securities sector. Banking/credit is also more receptive to African-Americans, placing 7% in top positions, while only 4.4% reach that level in the securities sector. Likewise, a smaller percentage of Hispanics achieved official/manager status (2.9%) in securities, versus 5.1% in banking. More Asians, however, reached higher positions in securities (6.4%) than they did in banking (2.8%).
“This report shows that we still have some ways to go,” EECO Chairwoman Cari Dominguez stated in a press release.
