Not content to do well for itself, Oxford University has launched a new business that will manage the assets of its constituent schools as well as outsiders. According to Financial News, Oxford has tapped Karl Sternberg, a former investment chief at Deutsche Asset Management and Paul Berriman, a former CEO for the U.K. at the firm to run the new Oxford Investment Management. OIM has retained Watson Wyatt to provide research, with the consultancy's head of research, Craig Baker, responsible for recommending fund managers. The new firm will rely heavily on alternative investments to help it reach its target of 5 percentage points above inflation over rolling five-year periods, FN reports.
