The open-end investment funds and leasing companies had the highest contribution for the increase in the assets of the financial intermediation sector in H1, the central bank reported. The market share of leasing companies increased from 6% at end-2004 to 6.3% at end-June last year while investment funds' share soared from 1.8% to 3%. Closed-end investment funds, insurance companies and mandatory pension funds posted increases too, while banks and building societies saw decreases (from 81.4% to 79.3% and from 1.8% to 1.7%, respectively). The smallest share on the market had voluntary pension funds although they posted strong growth during the year.
