The Executive Yuan, or Cabinet, is considering exempting foreign investors with branches in Taiwan from the alternative minimum tax scheme, the Commercial Times reports. The newspaper said that Vice Premier Tsai Ing-wen had told newly sworn-in Minister of Finance Ho Chih-chin that his priority should be to exempt qualified foreign investors from AMT. Foreign investors with no operating offices or agents are already exempt. Ho said he had yet to discuss the matter with his staff, the newspaper reported.
