The competition for financial advisers has prompted brokerages to open their check books increasingly wider. BusinessWeek reports that twice recently Morgan Stanley has tempted top talent to come aboard by offering a bonus of twice the financial advisers’ gross revenue for the previous 12 months, among other tantalizing terms of employment.

“Money is the best inducement for these kinds of people to come aboard Morgan Stanley,” executive recruiter Howard Diamond told BusinessWeek. “It’s a terrific opportunity to harness quality advisors.” UBS reportedly did something along those lines last year, and other brokerages firms may be forced to do the same in an effort to compete.
