An aspiring broker claims he's a broken man because the NASD wrongfully failed him for a test he took to conduct business. Andrew Crabbe, who works for Lehman Brothers, is suing the agency, charging that the 68 he received on the test, two points below the passing grade, cost him part of his bonus and wrecked his reputation. Filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Crabbe's suit, according to Bloomberg News, is aiming to represent the 1,880 applicants who received, as a result of a computer glitch, failing grades for the Series 7 test they had actually passed. The NASD has offered to reimburse the brokers the $250,000 they paid on behalf of the test applicants, but Crabbe's lawyer, John Balestriere, says damage is "far in excess" of $5 million.
