In its latest move to take advantage of interactive data, the Securities and Exchange Commission is looking to upgrade its Web site to feature “easy-to-use software that will allow any investor, analyst, or company to discover the possibilities of interactive data,” according to Chairman Christopher Cox. The request for proposals is intended to attract software developers that would create products allowing users access to data encoded in the Extensible Business Reporting Language. Already, the agency has begun testing the use of interactive data in periodic reports for corporations and in investment company reports.
