The government wants to bring some adjustments to the investment law in order to provide tailor-made state aid to key foreign investors, local media reports, quoting the head of the investments agency ARIS, Ana-Maria Cristina. The authorities are reportedly under time pressures as three investors qualify their €600 million projects on this state aid. It is, however, unclear what kind of state aid has negotiated the state with the three key investors -- Calsonic Kansei of Japan, Austria's Egger and Moser Baer of India. The government is drafting a new strategy regarding to the allowances given to foreign investors, in compliance with the Competition Council's regulations. The strategy is expected in March and changes to the investment law will follow.
Calsonic wants to build a €100 million car parts within Ploiesti industrial park, Egger has scheduled investments of €210 million in a plant for wood processing in Suceava, while Moser Baer intends to assign €300 million in a CD-producing plant in Giurgiu County .
